Our Mission

Working to ensure the right people find the right home in the right team

Market Expertise

The legal sector has seen seismic growth over the past two decades, particularly in London. With so many firms having a real presence on the ground, it can be difficult to differentiate one elite brand from another.

This can present an issue, whether you’re a lawyer weighing up a move or a law firm trying to explain to others how your culture and client base sets you apart from the rest of the pack.

That’s where we come in. It’s our job to listen, advise and leverage our experience to guide individuals to the right home for their skills and abilities.

For Candidates

At Strangford, we are specialists in private practice search.

We work with lawyers at all steps of the profession, from trainees through to partners and heads of teams. It’s our goal to be a career ally of everyone with whom we work. Our advice centres on the question of what you can do in the here and now to strategically position yourself for where you want to be in the future; the answer may often be ”stay put and gain experience”.

Whatever your background and current position, our advice will be clear, no nonsense, and will take account of your personal goals.

Should you decide to explore life outside your current firm and ask us to help with your search, we will map the market discretely and comprehensively. We will prepare you thoroughly for interview and we will be there to field questions and offer support to you when the time comes to decide on the various offers you receive e.g. do these offers stack up against the objectives you had at the start of your search? Are you being given enough time to decide? Have you been given a full picture of what life is like on the ground? What questions remain outstanding?

Our approach has been described as ‘refreshing’ and ‘non-pushy’ by many with whom we’ve worked. For a confidential discussion, or to find out more, please feel free to get in touch.

For Clients

We pride ourselves on the calibre of the lawyers with whom we work.

We’re not in the business of flooding you with dozens of CVs for a particular role. We are confident, however, that when we introduce someone to you they will not only be first class technically, but they will also be a good cultural fit for the particular hiring team.

The time we invest in getting to know a particular candidate – often a period of many months or years – means that we are more likely to get it right when we suggest to them that your firm should be seriously considered as a potential home for their skills.

When we meet a candidate again in person ahead of their interviews, we encourage any and every question about the firm and the team. We find that this saves partners’ time, prepares the candidate better and makes the meeting more effective from everyone’s perspective.

We are confident that our success ratio of introductions to successful hires will outstrip what you see in the rest of the market.
